1. What is the difference between a banner and a button?
A banner is a form of advertising. A banner can be put onto a website, and then the person who has the banner earns money for each time it is clicked on. A button is some kind of clickable graphic on a web page that is usually used to advertise programs that were used to make or host the site.

Writing code for a simple website only takes a few simple tags.  You need a tag to show where the website begins (HTML tag), a heading tag, a body tag, and then a tag to show were the website ends.

1. What are web acceptable images?
JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP. Web acceptable images have a small file size and are usually save at around 72 dpi.

2. What do the acronyms mean?
JPEG : Joint photographic Expert Group
PNG: Portable Network Graphic
GIF: Graphic Interchange Format
BMP: Bitmap

3. How do they differ? In size? In DPI?
JPG: This format is best used for photographs. This is the most common format for the web. This is not a loss less format and is compresses after each save or change. This format can produce millions of colors.

PNG: This format is designed to transfer images online. It is a lossless format. PNG’s have about 24 bit in RGB.

GIF: This format is the smallest in size. It can only go up to 256 colors. This format is useful for animation and graphics.

BMP: This format is only compatible for Microsoft. It can handle a large file size and has a lossless format. Can go up to 32 bit in color.

4. Is one better than the other for a certain function?
JPEG: Best for photographs
PNG: Best for formatting things to the web
GIF: Best for animation and graphics

Twitter is a social site where you can post statuses, links, videos, etc. (also known as tweets). These tweets can be “followed” by others on twitter. Twitter can be used to follow friends, places, or favorite celebrities.

Facebook is a social networking site. On this site you can set a profile and then connect with friends. You can talk to friends, post video/pictures, play games, post statuses, follow friends, etc.

Myspace

Myspace is a social networking site, much like Facebook. On this site you can set a profile and connect with friends. You can also post video and pictures. This site is different than facebook in that you can apply a song to be played when others are viewing your profile.

Linkedin

Linkedin is another networking site like Facebook and Myspace. What makes this site different is that it is geared toward business professionals. On this site you can create a profile and attach things such as a resume for others to see. You can then allow other business professionals to view your resume.

WordPress

WordPress is a site that offers free blog hosting. You can use this site to blog as well as a website and many other things.

TypePad

TypePad is a site that offers free blog hosting. This site is much like WordPress. You can use this site to blog as well as a website and many other things. You can personalize your site with designs and photos.
